Research Areas Include:

I am not accepting new applications for graduate students, summer students, interns or post-doctoral fellows

My research is concerned with experimentation and mathematical modelling of transport phenomena and reactions in metals processing.  The overall aim is to reduce the materials and energy intensity of the processes, so that the sustainability of the processes can be improved.

Current Activities

  • Experiments and mathematical modeling of slag-metal and inclusion reactions in the ladle metallurgy furnace of ArcelorMittal Dofasco

  • Mathematical modeling and experimentation on inclusion control in ladle metallurgy furnaces

  • Mathematical modeling of gas-liquid plumes in ladle metallurgy

  • Mathematical modeling of slag eye formation in ladle metallurgy, and slag droplet formation
